Raiders Draft Prospect: CB Khyree Jackson, Oregon
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders will soon add young players to their team through the 2024 NFL Draft.

The draft process is long and complex as new General Manager Tom Telesco and Coach Antonio Pierce have to get a feel for who players are on and off the field.

The Raiders were just outside the playoff picture in 2023, hoping to make a few moves to reach the postseason in 2024. They hope some young talent in the draft will help them do that.

One player who could contribute to that is Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson. A former community college transfer who also spent time at Alabama, Jackson was named First-Team All-Pac 12 in 2023.

Jackson finished his Division I collegiate career with 48 total tackles, six tackles for loss, nine passes defended, and three interceptions. He broke out with the Ducks in 2023 and rose up draft boards.

Jackson participated in practice at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., but did not play. He also dealt with injuries last season at Oregon and the previous season at Alabama.

Jackson is one of the biggest corners in the draft at 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds. That size also shows up on tape, as he uses it to bother receivers and does not give up separation. Jackson has a long frame, quick feet, and strong hands. His size should allow him to be an effective press-man corner at the next level.

He is a sticky cover corner, using his fluid hips and good speed to his advantage. According to Pro Football Focus, Jackson was targeted 38 times and allowed just 19 receptions for 200 yards and just one touchdown. He allowed just two touchdowns in his entire career and has two career sacks.

Jackson gets a bit handsy in coverage. He committed four penalties in 2023 and will need to cut down on being overly physical at the next level. His ball production was also not high, but that's because he was rarely targeted. Still, he will want to make more plays on the ball in the NFL.

Jackson is projected to be a fourth-round selection. If he tests well, he could see his stock continue to rise.

If the Raiders are looking for a cornerback with size and competitiveness, Jackson could be a good fit.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
