Megan is additionally just the second musician to cover the annual issue, as fellow Houstonian Beyoncé—you may have heard of her—was the first in 2007. Bey was previously featured on Megan’s “Savage” remix.
“When I got the call that they wanted me on the cover, I was like, 'Wha—? Me?'” the 26-year-old Grammy winner told People. “And to be the first female rapper on the swim cover makes it extra special. It feels amazing!"
“My earliest memory of a SI Swimsuit cover was Tyra [Banks],” she added. “I remember thinking, 'Wow, this girl looks like me!' Here is this stunning Black woman owning her curves, and it made a big impact. It made me think, maybe I can be on the cover of SI Swim one day. And guess what — I am!"
The other cover starts are Naomi Osaka and Leyna Bloom—the former is the first-ever Haitian and Japanese cover star, the latter the first transgender.
